Adsense

I know. My forum topic just isn't popular enough to get that kind of traffic anyway, no matter how much I advertised unfortunately.
 
I was using google adsense and was about £2 away from being able to take the money out and I got banned for some reason.
 
On my new site I'm adding google adsense on every page, hopefully get some rev from it 🙂

To the people that got banned... Were you able to at least postulate what the specific circumstances of the banning was?

For forums, you do have to be careful and vigilant in managing spam. Google wouldn't take too kindly if 100 spam bots were able to slip thru the cracks and flood the board with spam for example. Also, if you make use of any sort of traffic exchange Google will ban you.
 
Once you get your first payout Google seems to trust you more. Almost every single story I've read about people getting bannd have done so before their first payout, very few seem to get banned after that.

Using adsense on forums however seems rather useless due to adblindness. Adsense and other PPC advertising works better on sites with high % of new visitors and organic traffic from search engines.

Adsense works on most types of sites except forums (it's not to say however that you won't earn anything).

If I have a mainsite and forums, I usually stick CPM type ads on the forums due to the sheer number of impressions and adsense on the main site. Sometimes I stick them both.

Adsense overall however is always a solid way to make money.Reliable and easy.
 
I'm hoping to decide on what kind of ads to put on my forum over the next couple of days, before I have it installed on SMF I should probably decide first. {Site in sig, in Proboards currently, moving soon to SMF} Would you recommend Adsense for this, or another type of ad and if so, what type/brand? How would I go about this?

Thanks anyone for any input you have. The ads would ideally go in a similar place as they are on the Proboards site, where they've never been a problem. Would I be able to tailour the ads to my site, or would it go by auto keywords? I know my members well and their general interests, and the auto keyword system that Proboards currently uses to call up ads for our site doesn't work so well because they aren't doing it by anything BUT keyword.
