Any tips for bringing in members?

I have used some of the tips,

The Layout is fixed..

But, when I tryed to add console discussion, that one other admin removed it.He's content on "Trying to make the forum more organized" and he even saw this thread and was like "Oh, well we will save this stuff for the future, but not right now"

and he thinks that mass advertising will bring in members, :|
 
I've advertised here,Advertisement Hotspot,Infinity MUGEN Team and MUGEN Guild(two gaming websites),Resident Evil Herbs,YouTube(before i took the video down),Anime Wars,Google's Search Engine Optimatzion(SEO),Forum Topsite,Revollution,Wober.net

I don't know of any other places I advertise my forum.
 
I would say none of them are large forums. You also are not targeting the right niche for some of them, like Wober or promotion forums. Wober is a discussion community, not solely on gaming and promotion forums have webmasters, not gamers. Look at Big-Boards.com and look for large gaming forums. Build up a reputation and then place it in your signature.
 
lol i have a feeling my site might not be as popular as I'd like.... doesn't mean I'll give up.

Dude, stop thinking negatively and get out there and PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE!!!
 
When I said promote, i meant promote EVERYWHERE!

This forum is not the be all and end all!

Do you have facebook? myspace? and sites like that... if so are you using them to promote?

have you placed a banner link in your signature on ALL forums that you are on?

have you placed a text link in your email signature for ALL emails you send???

Are you grasping the concept of PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE??????

I'm sorry if that sounds rude, but it seems as though you are not listening to what anyone says and you are just whining because no-ones joining your forum.
 
Let me get this through to you. You are not taking up anyones opinions nor suggestions, and you ask users why they don't join?

You came to this section for support, we are providing free support but you do not take it all in, then why request?

I tryed doing the stuff you guys told me too and the other admin is like changing it back/removing and saying crap "We'll save this stuff for the future" and "Simplicity is the key to getting members" or even stuff like "We need organization" and all that crap.
 
Are the owner? If so, why are you letting the other admins control your forum?
 
Yes, I am the owner and second if I don't have him as a admin, he gets pissed and he's a really good member..

Dude one of the first pieces of advise we gave you was it was a BAD idea to give anyone Administrator status that just asked for it. We told you the number of staff you had was way OTT for a starter forum and that positions like that should only be given to those you know well and trust..... you ignored us again.

Now you find yourself in the very situation that we told you it was a bad idea. You now have someone you don't even know that well dictating how YOUR forum should be run. And you are letting him dictate that. If you are not happy with that situation how do you expect to get members?

Either stand you ground a tell YOUR staff how things are to be done, OR dismiss the Administrator that is causing you problems. You seem to be letting him rule.

Are you the original admin or a mouse?

Lol. I don't know what else to say. You are keeping him in control of the forum because he posts? Its because you have kept him in control that the forum isn't going anywhere. Bad decision by you.

Ok first of all, there's questions to be asked here....

Why is he leaving? solely because you made him Moderator?
Why was he on your forum in the first place? because he ONLY wanted Admin?
What did you say to him when you made him Moderator? Did you handle it with some respect?
 
Yes because I made him a moderator.
I asked him to help me out on my forum and there you go.

and we are a starter forum, we don't even have 1000 posts or 50 members and such..

Now, don't get pissed about this, pokemoneinstein, you will get your admin position back in the future..

Now I'm not going to change the layout, it is fine as it is..

Now, dude we need to do what the people want.Not what you want..

Plus in that one thread(viewtopic.php?f=22&t=45571), they are insulting you and stuff.

Pokemoneinstein, until we have 50/ or 100 members who are active and such, you'll have to be a moderator.

If you want something done to the forum, go post about it in the feedback/suggestions area..

None of them are bigger than the other.

Two admins and two mods is severely overstaffed. You should only have One admin and no moderators at this point. If they post very frequently, make them mods, but never admins.

They have to know that this is YOUR forum and that YOU are in control. Moderators shouldn't be able to challenge the admin, and admins should be able to challenge the Founder/Head Admin.
