I've heard that some do it for appearance, some for hygiene, but most for religious purposes..
I am going to be honest here, even though with men, I have shown preference for cut, vs. un-cut, (because I think a lot more can go wrong.. like a torn foreskin etc.. and I'd be afraid of hurting the guy..) it is not something I would have done to my child.
Religion, or not, unless the doctors can show me research and proof indicating that keeping it, would be detrimental to my child's health, I would not let them do it.
When my brother was born in 2000, he was circumcised, my heart broke every time I, my mother, or my stepfather changed his diaper, I have heard babies cry in frustration, because they were hungrey, need to be burped, changed, got a needle, etc.. but when I heard him cry out in pain, I couldn't take it, and I felt bad for him, because I knew that he didn't know what was going on, or why they hurt him, all he knew is that he was in pain, and there was no way to comfort him. I dont ever want to hear that again, and so, I will not be subjecting my child to that kind of pain, unless the doctors can show me proof that it would be beneficial to my child's health.
As for the religious beliefs regarding circumcision, if the deity or religion I follow requires me to castrate my child, before I am considered a true follower, then that, my friend, is the very same moment I become an atheist. I'd like to think that if the deity they pray to had a problem with foreskin, then he would have written it out of his design for the male genitalia..
Personally, I believe that circumcision should be THE MAN'S CHOICE.. and no one else's as it is HIS EQUIPMENT.
I've heard that the procedure was more or less for the ladies, and I must say that I would NOT want someone doing that for my sake. Any woman that would require a man to have himself castrated to her liking, is proof that she is more invested with the man's genitalia, then she is with the man himself, and should have to spend the rest of her days alone, leaving her with only a B.O.B as a viable alternative.
It wouldn't say much about her as a person, and men would be a lot better off without a woman like that anyway.
So yes, even though some may think that it isn't really that pretty, it is a lot better looking than a two-tone rod (that is if you are of a different race) and honestly, I think that hoodie or not, the male genitalia has the potential to be a lot cleaner than the woman's vagina.. as we have a lot more nooks and crannies as opposed to a man.
If the parent's teach their child to properly clean himself, and even show them what can happen if they don't, then the smegma issue, would not be as prevalent.. even if the child doesn't listen to you, eventually he will either notice himself, or he will be forced to take notice by the girl he wants to have sex with, so he'll end up listening anyway.
