Re: Demotion Forums - Why the Classic Services No Longer Tic

By that same logic I have the right to create any thread I like within the rules of this forum.
No. You don't. We're
nice and we
let members create any thread they like within the rules of our community - most of the time.
Cosmic, I think you're trying too hard to associate Forum Promotion with a politicoeconomic system.
Forum Promotion is not a political system. There are no rights. There are no elected leaders. There is no democratic judicial system or system of checks and balances. It is true that, under its current leadership and moderators, the values and policies of whom are subject to change at any time, Forum Promotion allows its users to post most any sort of feedback, regardless of whether it is positive or negative in nature, providing it is not expressed in an insulting or maligning manner. Please don't confuse the fact that we are, in all honestly, really, truly
nice with some inalienable right you have to post anything you like, providing it is within our guidelines, with some obligation that you have to extend the domains of popular power and break down the centers of concentrated power or
improve the poverty-stricken, terrible lives of our members.
This is not the American Revolution, and I find it a bit odd that you're treating it as such.
Obviously you're not a big fan of the services that promotion forums offer. Congratulations. Neither am I. I don't see the value in post exchanges and packages and reviews, but I also understand that my value set is different from, say, Shotgun's value set, Snobo's value set, CarMadMike's value set, Kino's value set, your value set, and there are certainly members of this community who
do see value in post exchanges and packages and reviews, just as I don't like general discussion forums, but I can name at least twenty people off the top of my head who do!
Why am I still here? I have grown to really enjoy this community. Why are you still here? Well, I'm not really sure. You don't like the concept of this forum, judging by the way in which you have conducted yourself in this thread and in past threads, I can inference that you're not madly in love with this community, and you really, truly don't have an obligation to change things here, because there are plenty of people who like the way things are and value the way things are. I'm not asking you to leave, but your logic in continuing to contribute to this community even when you have expressed on numerous occasions your dislike for this forum really does puzzle me. I am interested in hearing what seems to draw you in.
