Do you think children are brought up cushioned from the real world nowadays? The generation before us were brought up to work and earn but our generation just seems to not want to do anything to help themselves. Where do you think our planet is going if we keep on like this?
Kids do get it easy nowadays but the times and elements of society has changed, so it isn't as shocking as some people might think it is.
Practically no kid these days has to endure a spanking or corporal punishment in school or at home. Physical punishment is almost completely phased out of most schools, households and even opinions on rearing youngsters. Back when I was a kid, that was not the case. I remember getting it at school and getting it even more at home. However, back when my folks were kids, the whippings they got made the ones I got look like a birthday spanking... Years ago, children were almost killed (some believe they were killed) for breaking parental rules. Times change and punishments get less severe.
However, I have seen that most of time, law enforcement and the criminal justice system are being the new punishment givers of our kids these days. SWAT team busting into schools over simple scuffles, kids getting arrested for refusing to do the simplest things in school and at home... I find it fascinating but insane all at the same time.
Aside from those topics, when I was 8-9 years old, I started working - cutting grass for pay. Most of the money I made was taken by my folks, too. That was part of being a child. Nowadays, I don't see kids cutting grass or shoveling snow for money, instead, they are inside playing Call of Halo or Grand Theft Mario on their Play Station 360s and Game Wiis.
😛
The real wonder though, will this continue in the future, will people in the future say, man those 2015 kids had it rough compared to our kids...or will our current status eventually extinct us? I suppose we just leave it up for debate, right?
