Do you use cash?

The last time I used cash was in Portugal. Here in the UK I very rarely have any cash. Everything is card payments, its so convenient. In my experience, retailers expect card these days and can often be surprised if you pull out a tenner.

I always have cash, though it's not a big amount, just enough to get by in case of emergency. Otherwise, all the money is on the card

Unfortunately, there is a strange trend in Europe that cash is unnecessary. At the moment there are strong restrictions to paying with it, I think it's €10,000 and for me that is unfortunately enslaving people. I have more cash than money in my bank account and I believe that cash and a country's own currency means freedom and independence.

I only used cash when I'm out with friends at bars and whatnot. That's about it.

It’s been a while since I’ve used cash when I really think about it. I never carry it. I can’t say I’ve had any situations in the last 3-4 years where I’ve needed cash I’ve always been able to pay card. Does anyone else think the pandemic helped to kill off cash a little bit?

I mostly use card these days... I only ever handle cash if it's money for the taxi driver.

I prefer to use my card. I don't like walking with lots of money on me, but I still use cash.

I very rarely have cash on me anymore. I use to take out $50 at the start of the weekend to pay for eating out or going to the movies and stuff like that.

I can't remember the last time I had cash on me. It kind of feels like it's easier to get robbed if you have money on you.

It looks like the majority don’t use a lot of cash anymore - however I was just thinking as I don’t use cash much at all but I’d probably still use it for birthday cards and Christmas cards? Does anyone else use it for that still?

I only use cash to pay my rent or if I’m putting some spare cash into my money box.

I only have cash on me for yard sales on the weekends, other than that I use Apple pay for either.

Some restaurants I go to offer discounts if you pay by cash, which is when I will often use it.

I avoid using cash as much as possible. I don’t like having it on me. I also lock my cards when I’m not immediately using them.

That’s cool. I’ve never heard of any restaurants around here offering discounts if you pay with cash. Are they like mom and Pop stores or chain restaurants?

Mom and pop. I think it's because of the processing fees they would pay for accepting credit/debit.
