Does the guy have a say....

No matter how hypocritical it sounds it got you to make meaningful posts again 🙂 I don't really want to get myself in the way of you and Oaeks argument about maternity leave...but I will say that the what if game in debates is a lot of times what can sway someones view on something. Think of all the stupid political commercials on Abortions, Death Penalty, etc. It's all what if scenarios trying to get you to support one side or the other.

Anyways its fun to play the what-if game sometimes. Here's how it usually goes: A couple people give their sides of the argument over the course of a few posts. Ok.. once that has been established then one says "What if this happened" and the other says "What if that happened" and it just goes off in to all sorts of crazy imaginative scenarios that each party will try to disarm. Thats what this thread is turning into.

What if games?

So, I should just ignore the possibility because it's unlikely? So, 95% of the time your scenario which is, both parents get lucky, will happen. So let's just ignore the possibility of any unlucky people cause we can't help everyone. 😕 Wonderful philosophy. Until you're unlucky that is.

The "what if" has been what this thread has been about from the beginning, "what if a woman gets pregnant", "what if she wants an abortion", "what if the guy doesn't"... me narrowing it down to the worst possible scenarios is no different from using general scenarios.

My assumption that the parents are badly off is akin to ordering a small ice cream, you don't know how small it is, you just know it's smaller than big.

I don't know how bad off the parents are, but I know they are probably worse off than most, because a well off parent wouldn't need Or -in all likelihood want, an abortion. And I already gave my opinion to whether a "richer" parent should have an abortion.
Discussion over credibility finished. My point explained.

Dude, I specialize at disarming both factual and what if posts. Proven by what I have left over of the likes of your maternity leave blob down below, and Kirisute's what if texts in previous pages.

It's why I debate here, cause there's plenty of both. If you don't like the "what if" portion of the debate topics, you shouldn't debate here.

Ever heard of maternity leave? 😛
Believe it not, employers actually pay women to be off work so they can have a baby. 😀
Besides if the man is really wanting to have the child, he would help out with any financials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but here are restrictions that apply to whether you can get paid maternity leave in the U.S., certain amount of time working before you can have maternity leave, and other things.

Now, if I'm wrong, please tell me.

No employer can terminate a person's employment due to pregnancy. They are obligated by law to allow a woman to take a maternity leave. Your employer can either grant you a paid leave or you can get temporary disablity or unemployment.. Not sure which one it is. If neither of those work out, then like I said, if the guy really wants the baby then he will help out with any financials.

I never said they would terminate it did I. Nor did I say they couldn't give you leave, I said paid leave.

In America your employer will not always give you paid leave, and disability and unemployment is hard to get, and you can't always get it.

Here something I should of said the last time you said the father should help. I gave the scenario that the father couldn't help. So here it goes...

If the father can't help with financials, how will he help out with financials?
Maybe he'll find one of those money trees you see on the loaning company commercials.

 Indeed.
When I have more time, I will stop in this thread and write a page long what-if, put it in bold print and give it a fancy color then you can pick it apart all you like.

Ah, I get it, you're already playing a game. You're playing the "pick part to post that has the least to do with the debate and respond to it" game.
That's why you don't like the "'what if' game".

And second, that's my text... you know, it's like wearing a bandanna. It's individualizes me amidst the drab black and whiteness of everyone else's posts. Or at least I like to think of it that way.

BTW, you have 124 colors to choose from (not counting mine) I recommend this color. Try it out, it looks good on you.

"[ color=#FFFFFF ] [ /color ]" Just condense the code brackets, you know how it works.

It really does

Also BTW, I'm fine with you writing a sentence long post issuing your logic and non what-if thoughts on the matter. Just as long as they are... you know... on the matter.

Yeah. If they're gonna leave they might as well say they're tired of debating and have nothing left to say on the matter, instead of bashing my text color. 😛
