First time a movie has released exclusively on VHS in 20 years!

After 2 decades a movie has officially released exclusively on VHS! A scifi movie in which Ai and humans fight each other in an end of the world style movie. As a massive retro buff, and supporter of the retro scene coming back I went ahead and bought the collectors addition as well as normal version 🙂 I will be making another blog post after that explaining everything about it without spoilers as well. For those in the US I will say I paid $80 for shipping so please keep that in mind if you decide to want to support them as well. Regardless, feel free to check out the blog post to figure out what movie it is and get more information on it

Do they not understand that very very few people still have functioning VHS players? I'm all for the push to have more physical media but why VHS?

I get wanting to flip a middle finger at the people pushing for streaming and digital media but I have a VHS player, only because of a family member giving it to me when they moved.

Most people have capabilities to play DVD and Blu-ray discs. Not so much VHS.

Not to mention they're annoying. Rewinding them every time was a nightmare unless you had one of those speed ones.

Ohhh do tell! My wife and I love horror, it's our favorite genre 😀

The good thing is you can find a VCR fairly cheap from any thrift store, goodwill, pawn shop, etc. I have 6 not counting the 3 VCR CRTs I have and most of those came from Goodwill or thrift stores (Goodwills for some reason have them frequently lol)

VHS was built for CRTs more-so than dvds. You also have the particles and everything. Some movies genuinely benefit from being on VHS than DVD. In my opinion the Ring & the Grudge are both films that are significantly better, honestly and early 2000s and under movie's better with VHS because of those things. Just my personal reason on as to why.

Call me old fashioned but I still have a VHS player, a cassette player, a record player, a CD player and a DVD player all of which get regular use.

I think it's cool. I had so many VHS tapes when I was young but I have nothing to play them on....also saw that all the TVs that have a player made into them, the prices have been marked up to over $1000 USD by resellers since I guess they're getting popular again. 😛

YES! That's what I love to hear 😀 We've been collecting records here and there recently and it's nice to put them on every so often.

Probably because no one would pay any attention to it if it was being released on DVD as the only thing of notice is the physical media format used. He's charging 18 to 30 dollars for a copy of it which is a bit pricey when blu ray movies go for around that price.

Probably...most likely true. That's astonishing. I don't remember the brand new VHS tapes being worth that much. I can understand why some horror film fans might prefer the VHS because of the distortion effects sometimes.
