I don't see how you can, either. It's not like you have to devote your life to it. A forum is a hobby; something you do in your spare time. If you're devoting your life to the forum, then you clearly have the whole forum idea wrong.
Thanks pookie. I am. *hugs* 🙂wednesday said:Hope you are doing well Theezy.x
If it was something you really had to do, I'm sure your members and staff would be understanding and move on. There is millions of forums on the internet and they could always just start their own new one if they wanted. Either that or you could just give it to whoever wanted it (if you felt comfortable with that).Wrath of the Gods said:I'd love to give up my forum and take more control of my offline life, but to be honest I'd feel guilty about it and it would be nagging me forever. I mean it would hurt all of my hard working staff and members if I just pulled the plug really 🙁 I guess I should have thought more about starting it before I did.

I am very well aware that there are other boards out there that have the same subject as mine, and is a lot more active. And while, I am happy for them, I am not going to enjoy my forum less because comparing my forum to others was not the reason I made a forum in the first place.. it was so that I can meet, share ideas and chat with people from all over the world in a laid-back environment.
I think that the only way I'd have to give it up was if my host was going down, or if it was no longer free. I do have other expenses, and my forum takes a back seat to that. If that happened, then I would have to take my database, and convert it to another kind of software and see if I can get my forum up and running on a different kind of software..
