High ranking spot on google using specific keywords

I think this works. I have been trying to get forums.p8i.com to rank on the key-phrase video game forums for awhile now. With no luck. Yesterday, I started to use that in my anchor text wherever I advertised my forum. To my surprise, I am now on the 6th page for video game forums. -happy-

And that's a great start for such a competitive keyword.

Thanks for this. I've always just used my site name which people would only search for if they were looking for my site. Figured it'd still place first anyway so changed all my sig links. Couldn't really think of a good keyword to use so went with Gamer Forum.

Gamer Forum may not be the best way to go with that. You might want to try something like "Video Gaming Forum". I can't see "gamer forum" being something too often searched. But if it is, good 😀 Let us know how it turns out for ya!

I managed to get to the front page of google for it around a week ago but then suddenly dissapeared altogether for it. I figured i'd try something less competitive first to see how it worked, it gets ~8k searches a month according to google's keyword tool.

Adding the keyword to my title page seemed to help a lot for ranking higher.

Yep adding the keyword to your title does help a ton in the indexing process. If you overdo it though you will get removed from the keyword. You need to do it more gradual so google does not classify you as a link spammer.

Im now ranked 5th for the term and it's bringing in ~6 visitors a day, more than any other source 😛

Its actually very easy. Get lots of backlinks on large sites such as Forum Promotion and you'll get a great PR.

That's actually untrue. Unless you have a fairly permanant link on the main page, the sub pages and forum posts are not worth much, if anything at all, to PR. Normal topics and posts are best for using anchor text to raise your sites ranking.

Sure, building up your links whilst getting people to click them does help, and the more you have, the more visible you are. Of course different pages rank differently, if they do rank, but nevertheless, its another link and there is every chance that page will get indexed.

Visibility is the target here. Anchor text ranks you for keywords rather than focusing on pagerank which is not "the" determining factor on search engine ranking. A well made and linked PR0 site can outrank many other sites with PR.

is their any limit that we should not keep the text more than the limit ?

Your text can be as long as you want. It just helps google determine what keywords to list your site under.

It's not all about links with targeted anchor text, you need on-site optimization with keywords being use throughout, titles constructed correctly etc.

Which is why my original post says that everything needs to work together. This just points out how many users will advertise their direct link rather than helping themselves using anchor text. So many times you will see a site... free hosts especially... linked as thissite.whateverhost.com. When a user could just take the extra second and link it as "This Site" and help direct google in where to index it.

You can never just do one thing and expect to get ranked highly quickly. SEO is making a bunch of moving parts go in the direction you want it to.
