How often do you buy a new computer?

I usually buy a new computer every 4 to 5 years, or sooner if performance starts to slow down or software demands outgrow the hardware.

I use a laptop so I usually don’t buy a new one until my current one starts to slow down or has issues. I tend to stick with my laptop for several years before replacing it depending on how well it’s performing.

I very rarely get a new computer. I work with what I have until I can't anymore. I'm currently using my custom-built computer from early 2021.

I don't upgrade my computer too frequently, I usually upgrade in 7-8 years.

At least 2-3 years. My current laptop needs a upgrade. I wish I had a better PC, so I can start streaming on Twitch. My laptop freezes/crashes when I have too many tabs open.

Buying new in less than 5 years is a waste of resources, energy, money.
Just buy computer with enough room to accommodate your future needs.

Considering that I'm typing this in on a 2013 era Mac Mini... only when I absolutely have to!
Although I am looking at a new machine for my image processing. I haven't decided on whether to replace the Mini and use it also for my processing or buy a new Intel based system and use either Linux or Windows on it or Linux (probably Linux) since it is only used for image processing.

Maybe every 5 - 6 years? basically until I have major problems. I've actually just finished paying off in Sept for my latest, it's only an RTX 3080 already outdated by the 40's graphic cards, but should at least last me a good couple of extra years for now.

I only buy a new laptop when my previous one quits working for some reason and my hubby can't fix it. My hubby has a degree in electronics so I know it's time to get a new computer when he can't fix it in the first place.

The only time I buy a different laptop is if my current quits working and cannot be repaired. I haven’t had to buy one here lately, but going to get a MacBook and sell my Chromebook.

Not too often. I just got one recently because it's a bigger screen to my other one as I had to get a temporary one last year when my previous one died.

I recently change my laptop due to battery issue. It has served me for close to 6 years, I decided to allow it rest because it's not giving me what I needed anymore.

Every 5 years, I don't have that much money to buy one every year and besides, it seems unnecessary to me, since they can be improved and updated.

I basically just upgrade stuff as needed. My current pc is 7 years old because that's when I last did a full rebuild. But some components are newer and older than that.

Well the gaming laptop I have, I have had since 2016… so 10 years… it’s officially on its last legs. I will likely be buying a new computer by March. So, once every 10 years? lol

If it breaks or is too slow or if it doesn’t support software updates anymore. I went from a crappy HP laptop and the next year got a MacBook Air 2020 and I’ve had that for about 4 years now. Hoping I don’t have to upgrade any time soon. 🤣

The laptop that I'm using now that I'm using needs to be repalced but it's the money and the costs of things that I do not have.

I don't have the financial strength to be buying a new laptop every now and then. That's why always make sure that at any point that I buy a laptop, it should be able to last me for four years at least. I always buy a new laptop every four or five years.
