Laptops VS Desktops

Laptops are better because we can carry it where we want. We can also use it indoors or outdoors desktops cannot do this because they are heavier. Also they have a battery so when the electricity has gone and you have enough charge you can do tasks that are not related to the internet. I also think the design on laptops are better for some reason, I think they look a lot more modern, as with desktops, I feel some look unattractive and very out of date. Laptop is cheaper in electricity charge because it uses 100 watts, while desktops use around 400 or something like that. So that means we pay less for a laptop. When there is a recession on, energy-saving appliances are very suitable because it saves money in your pocket.

I do most of my stuff on a MacBook pro. Works pretty well for most things. I have Illustrator, PS, a development environment, and a couple other things running most of the time, and it handles it pretty well. I can feel it struggling sometimes, but it's generally not much of a problem. I also enjoy being able to lay down while using it. I also have an iMac and Dell desktop, but only really use those occasionally.

At work, I have an extremely powerful desktop workstation with maybe 32 GB of RAM, a bunch of cores, and three monitors. I got it because I complained enough about how old my machine was! But it runs beautifully. I really do need a horsepower from it, as I usually have PS, AI, Visual Studios, IntelliJ, a browser, and the pretty graphics intensive software I develop all open at the same time. 😛

Desktops and laptops can both be awesome. Just depends on what you're doing.

I have both and i cannot prefer one over another. Depends what you need. You cannot bring case to pub but the desktop is stronger, in same price range!

the final decision depends on what your needs are. While the above chart may make it look as though Desktop computers are the best overall option, if portability is a big need of yours, the laptop is the best option

Generally, I prefer Laptops. They're light-weight, portable, and easy to travel with. However, for gaming, I prefer a desktop. Typically, desktops have more power for gaming and overall make better systems.

Desktops for me.
My main use for them is gaming and a laptop is too "final". Upgrading is almost impossible for laptops and there is something much more satisfying when looking at my desktop rig compared to my gaming laptop.

I prefer the keyboard for desktops, but the portability of laptops. Screens also tend to be bigger on desktops.

I normally use my laptop. I do sometimes use my Dell desktop, but it's not much faster than my laptop is, and my laptop is actually portable.

Desktops when doing gaming, homework, or other activities. Otherwise for portable I'd use my laptop if just doing general homework, looking online, or trying to get something done on the go.

Recently, I've been seriously considering using desktops more, actually. There is little I love more than lying in bed with my Laptop, but I also love the power that a good desktop can give you. I also think it's easier to use software like Illustrator on a desktop, because a mouse offers greater control, and a desk chair allows for a better posture (and therefore, more efficient use of the machine).

Would it be a huge waste of money to get a beefy desktop? I'm not sure. I'm definitely in love with my work machine, which has a 12 core processor. I'd love to have a machine like that at home some day.

I use them for many different reasons. Obviously you can never beat the ease and portability of the laptop. And in general, it's difficult to match the power of a desktop(unless you can afford 3,000 laptops, which I can't lol). But I'll always have more love for the desktop.

I personally prefer using a Laptop because they are more portable than desktops.

You can buy a laptop for browsing the web or streaming videos while you're traveling.
But if you are a gamer who value performance over portability, you should choose a desktop.

But in my case, I believe desktop is the best choice for hard core job because when laptop and desktop have the same price, desktop's performance is always better.

It's a tough question really.

I understand why laptops are so appealing with their portability, but I'm all about performance and I find I just don't carry laptops around, I don't need to. So I'd rather build my own PC for much less (i7 with an SSD) for example is a fantastic machine for me. I do own a laptop but I'm not on it as much as my Desktop.

If I really need to carry something around for work or sit on the couch.. then a Chromebook or a tablet would be fine for me.

I had been using desktop all my life and the first time I had the opportunity to use a laptop was when I was assigned work in 2 offices which are far apart by 1 hour travel. That laptop was my official computer so that I can have my computer wherever I am. That was 3 years ago and I'd say the laptop is much better than the desktop in terms of mobility. But the downside of the laptop is the high consumption of the battery that I make it a point to plug it in an electrical socket when I use it. That will at least save the battery from wear and tear.

I prefer to use a laptop as it lets me move around freely. Plus I can work in bed 😀

I always find myself using a desktop. I have one that I use at work and one that I use at home. Mine at home as Windows 8 and the one I use at work has Windows 10.
