This man is an idiot. By doing this, I can guarentee you he will face some sort of repurcussion from the Muslim community. His life could be in danger due to his ignorance.
What is he ignorant about?
>Extremist Terrorists carry out attacks on United States
>Insult an entire religion
Those who are insulted choose to be. I'm not insulted from people burning Bibles.

He's an idiot, but he has every right to do it.

Enough said.

I was just about to post the same......

The pastor of a small US church who planned to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11 has cancelled his protest.
Terry Jones said he was calling off the event after the group behind a planned Islamic centre near Ground Zero in New York agreed to relocate it.
But the cultural centre's organisers said they had no plans to move it.
Mr Jones' plan had been internationally condemned and had already sparked many protests around the world.
US Defence Secretary Robert Gates had telephoned him to urge him to reconsider his plans. The pastor had also been visited several times by the FBI.
Mr Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, which has fewer than 50 members, had named Saturday "International Burn a Koran Day".
But at a news conference, he said he was now dropping the plans and urged his supporters to do the same.
"We would right now ask no one to burn Korans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it," he said.
If they were willing to either cancel the mosque at the Ground Zero location, or if they were willing to move it away from that location, we would consider that sign from God”
He said he would travel to New York on Saturday to meet those behind the Islamic centre, saying they had "agreed to move the location".
"The American people do not want the mosque there, and, of course, Muslims do not want us to burn the Koran," he said.
"If it's not moved, then I think Islam is a very poor example of religion. I think that would be very pitiful. I do not expect that."
'No agreement'
Mr Jones was joined at his news conference by Muhammad Musri from the Islamic Foundation of Central Florida.
Mr Musri said he and Mr Jones had committed to travelling to New York "to come to a decision on moving the mosque".
"We are committed to dissolving the situation here and there," he said.
He also thanked Mr Jones for his "courage and his willingness to take these serious events that are unfolding".
But the organisers of the New York centre said no agreement had been reached with Mr Jones.
Leader of the New York project, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf issued a statement saying he welcomed the cancellation of the Koran burning.
"However, I have not spoken to Pastor Jones or Imam Musri," he added.
"We are not going to toy with our religion or any other. Nor are we going to barter. We are here to extend our hands to build peace and harmony."
Mr Musri clarified to reporters that no guarantees about moving the Islamic centre had been given.
He and Mr Jones had only agreed to fly to New York to discuss the location of the Islamic centre with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.
Plans for the Islamic centre have prompted fierce debate in the US because of its proximity to the scene of the 9/11 terror attacks.
President Barack Obama had earlier warned Mr Jones the proposed burning would be "a recruitment bonanza" for al-Qaeda.
The US State Department had warned US citizens of an increased risk of attack, while international police organisation Interpol also issued a warning of the risk of violent response.

He didn't call it off, he just postponed it. It's really pitiful how much support this guy has (not support from people who say he has the right to burn them, but from people who agree with his ideology).

Its the media's fault. Without them no one would care about this dumb ass.

And of course some agree with it. People are stupid.

I, as a Christian, know that the Islam way is wrong, so that now makes me what, an idiot?

Religiously, we cannot both be correct in our views. I can support Islam on the moral view, that the pastor shouldn't make a stance like so, but that's to a certain extent. I'm not going to accept that Islam doesn't believe in the crucifixion of Jesus or that Islam or that Jesus was just a prophet, where I believe he was the Son of God, and that they make a mockery of the events in the Bible. I reserve the religious right to not support Islam and support the pastor if that is how you perceive his actions to be.

Subsequently, that makes me an 'idiot' in Gimgak's view. Wow

Disagreeing with someones views and condoning burning books for no other reason than to provoke would mean that person isn't high on the intelligence scale.

Similarly, a Muslim who thinks that woman are tools and agrees that girls should be circumcised at young ages and have their vaginas knitted shut to ensure virginity is an idiot.

So yeah, I don't discriminate. Both are stupid, but hey! Most of the world is anyway.

Your Christian view is humane and people take offense voluntarily, your Muslim view is inhumane and mutilation. I think that speaks for itself.

Disagreeing with a view and provoking a religion is nothing but a personal choice. No one is forcing you to take offense, no one is forcing you to even be apart of that religion. It doesn't make the burner unintelligent at all, rather intelligent for actually succeeding in sending a message, succeeding in gaining the media's attention, succeeding in gaining followers, succeeding in organization and so on. Not saying I agree with what he is doing, but I don't agree in saying he is unintelligent as your justification.

Christianity has taken a role of a more laid back religion, the vatican themselves know its the best way; their time in power is over. The Muslim religion is simply at the same level as when Christianity was in power and as such has such extremist laws. I can safely say that in time the Muslim religion will take a step back in these countries just like Christianity has in Europe.

And about what Mr. Jones is doing; It's ignorant, its the same as racists who were apposed to black children going to school with their kids, or drinking from the same fountain. Are you gonna say those people weren't/aren't stupid?

I wouldn't call Christianity a very laid back religion. Christianity is the reason that there aren't civil rights for homosexuals in the USA and other developed countries. You could argue that not all homophobia is related to religion, though.

Agreed, you make a good point. A lot of it's just pure disgust some men have in homosexuality. It's not all about religion.

Compared to what it was though, it's extremely laid back. A lot of people simply go to Church once or twice a year like Easter, simply "believe" but don't visit church, etc. This is accepted now and these people are still considered Christians by most. Hell the episcopal church has nothing against gay marriage, I guess its considered the most evolved church sect.

No! These people are an absolute DISGRACE. They are "CINOs" ("Christians In Name Only")! These people are just like those... ATHEISTS who have absolutely NO morals. NEVER would an ATHEIST or CINO feel ANY remorse about wrongdoing. All they do is eat babies in the woods.

sorry I'll shut up now

I'll remember that when I'm finishing off my brother's Halloween candy. I'll be sure to eat double what I normally would. xD

I'm kidding. I don't eat my brother's Halloween candy unless he offers it to me.

You show complete ignorance by defining Christianity as the Vatican. The Pope is part of the Catholic denomination, where I am a Protestant. You can't just say Catholic = Christianity. Your analogy also shows ignorance; he is voicing a strong opinion towards Islam, and even known Christian philosophers would disagree with Islam. It isn't being stupid, or comparable with racism. Also, it's one person voicing his opinion, where racism has been institutionalized in the past, where large groups of people were racist, not just one person.
