Description: An Ahsoka lovers' forum
Your Name on the Board: LukeTano

Must get members!

It's very dreary talking to myself.

I've already made a user with a phony email (it was a phony XRummer account) and a fake name (it was the name of an user that I totally detest that's on another forum.) and banned them already just for the fun of it.

But I'm so low on members right now I'd probably be grateful even for a spammer to join.

That's how desperate I am right now!!!

Hey, I just noticed that I suddenly have 4 FP cash. What's that mean?

Can I buy stuff now?

Can I just go post crazy to get 10 posts or will I end up with the user rank "I'm Banned!", which is kinda a funny rank by the way, if I do that?

Personally I have, or have just regular "Banned" in the group "I Got Banned!" and the category "Spammer" in the group "Galactic Nuisance", and "Twi'leek Exploiter" in the group "Pervert Sighted".

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

A few things.
Number 1: Your site is way too narrow a genera. Focusing on one character will get you nowhere fast. Try focusing on the clone wars series itself.
Number 2: Your board is lacking in the category department. Yes, you only have like 8 categories i think. Have some niche-specific categories, general categories, etc. Mix it up a bit 😉
Number 3: Why is there so many groups?!?!?! I count NINE groups. Half of which aren't necessary at all! A forum your size should have three, including staff and registered users.

Anyways, i wish you the best of luck. As a true star wars fan i connect with your site, but if you fix these points maybe one day i'll join up and we can chat about sw.
Luck to ya 😉

I would consider that efficient with only 3 members.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

Okay, i guess i agree. Although broadening his forum categories would help his site out.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

Best of luck to you and your site.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

Another great thing would be to buy a domain. Most people don't like to stay at sites with sub-domains. I know because once I was promoting with a sub-domain and the user said "When you have a domain tell me and I'll join."

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

It's not just about Ahsoka Tano, just is the main focus. You can find that you can discuss Star Wars in general. I have it for the fan fic.

I have so many groups as I thought it'd be attracting.

Three of them are just funny to make fun of banned users, etc.

FYI, one of the users is a sock. The other is a sock that I banned just for the fun of it and renamed it into the username of an user that I didn't like at some other forum.

Also, I found a light glitch, though spammers may not notice this.

I had the third dude registered with a phony address, an XRummer one to make him an evil spammer.

If I can register without a confirmation code, what's to stop users from abusing the forum and creating tons of socks and/or spam accounts?

I am using a free forum maker sight, which, though it comes with a lot of goodies, doesn't let me edit things like make a Visitor Messages field on the profiles or have a confirmation code.

I could always find someone's javescript somewhere to generate confirmation code, but I can't even find a button to click to edit the source code of the page itself!!!

Are the packages on this forum that you can buy stuff that'll fix that?

I know Java a bit but not really javascript anyway.

Getting a better domain name

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

What does the FP cash do?

I can't really change domain name without starting a new website.

I had originally tried to make it hosted as a Google site but it didn't work.

I'm in college and really can't afford to go buying websites.

Also, what's a Bot? I made a few and banned one just for the fun of it.

I heard they perform automated tasks or something, but can't find where to go to code them, even if I could actually be able to code them that is.

You can change the domain name, just point the new domain to that website, if you need help message me. Its going to cost you around $5 or so.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

Lol dude. Don't mind if i NOOB.
Google is your friend, use it.
FP$ can buy reviews, packages, and other various services.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

If you've bought a domain and have the host site you want to use. Register an account withy our host site and say you have your own domain (type it in). Now, find out your hosts nameservers and insert it to your Domain Provider for DNS settings.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

I don't own any domains.

I don't have a credit card so I can't go buying them.

If my site doesn't have that many categories, it's because I think it's only 2 weeks or less old and I'm in college and my grades are probably suffering from the large amount of time I already spent on it.

On the other hand....if I have a subdomain, will I also get less spammers?

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

My advice: Get off the computer and get studying. This shouldn't be interfering with your life with the minimal amount of work we are seeing from you on your site.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

Not minimal amount of work.

I'm slowly learning how to work the forum too.

I have several threads already. Can make more very quickly.

However, true, will work on evil group class paper.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

*facepalm*
I am giving up 😛

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

On what?

Still adding to forum.

And studying.

Re: Promoting new (and sadly memberless pretty much) forum

All members are welcome on FP, not just successful forum owners!

The FP Cash (FP$) can buy you reviews for your forum which can help you improve it. Packages can be bought too and that includes members of the Package Team registering and making the required post/topic count, depending on the package you are requesting. Please read the guidelines for each service though, they have a required post count and your forum must meet specific guidelines before requesting.

If your having trouble running the forum at the host you are currently with, try ZetaBoards. They are very good for amateur forum owners and you can edit the logo, theme, images etc. They are also secure, so you won't have much trouble with spammers if you set up the forum correctly.

Some webhosts also give you free hosting for a required post count on their own forums each month. Most give you cPanel access, so you can upload your own forum software instead of using a hosts automatic install. This let's you add MODs/plugins etc at your own wishes and gives you full access to edit the forum to your wishes.

For a great list on webhosts check this topic: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=28046

I like star wars, and I can help you out with a .info domain if you want.
