Have you ever had to do a System Restore? I just did. All the icons went from the top to bottom to right to left.

I had to do a complete restore to factory settings with an error I got in vista, problem was I didn't have the vista disk which was how to fix it, and my CD drive is broken 😛 (Bug in my laptop, gotta get Dell to fix it 😛)

I had to use system restore once, had a virus which was so dumb that it didn't delete the system restore checkpoints /fail for that virus maker.

Most viruses will delete all your system restore points as they infect your system. I had a virus not too long ago that did this, I tried to restore but all my restore points were deleted. After I logged off the virus deleted my windows logon files which made it impossible to load windows, so I figured a repair install would fix it... No so I had to reinstall a whole new Windows XP and reformat my C DRIVE, lost EVERYTHING /RAGE.

Viruses suck, some can be noob (/fail) but some can be bitches.

almost had to do that, luckily I had the option to do that easily on my laptop with just a factory settings reformat 😛

I have used System Restore alot... I always tend to touch things that break and mess up.

I don't, if they break for me I just stop using them... Unless I need them and their important ofcourse.

For me they usually are important things or things that create errors everytime you start up your laptop.

System Restore is worthless, which is why I have it disabled.

If I screw something up badly, I just reformat.

I always use the System Restore; it's really useful to have. Whenever I mess something up on the computer the first thing I do is do System Restore however if that doesn't help I will usually go to the experts; unless it's a driver/hardware issue I would go to the experts first.

In my experience, using it once, it did more damage than good. I love the big blue button (no, not that red one!) for reformatting 🙂

I have many times in the past, but recently I have not. The one thing that didnt work with a system restore was getting rid of a ghost icon. So I completely had to start from scratch!

I didn't think they had 'System Restore' on Apples. I read on the web they did though. Things you learn each day are important in everyday life.

*Cough* *Cough* all the Asus non needed programs, E.G: Asus GAMER OSD etc.

I do have it enabled on my laptop and ive set them to automatically make one every 2 days, this is because i got alot of important files on my laptop and i don't have enough time/space to back them all up so i just use a system restore when i need to. It also saves me from having to reformat my PC and lose everything.

I dont have an apple haha. But Apple has a program called the Time Machine which makes backups of your computer like system restores.
