Twitter

dave i can't find my rss feed, and the default rss feed widget is not showing the rss feed url in it,

We already are very thorough about updates and announcements and stuff on our site, so I dunno that advertising the twitter on our site will really get new members. Our current members would just have no need for it.

I have 3 followers so far, I'm just going to keep on tweeting {not like it's hard} few times a day and go from there!

So far we haven't had a single hit from Twitter though, but whatever, it's a place to test out my new backgrounds 😛

I'm going to be opening up a free graphics shop soon on my forum and maybe I'll tweet ads for that, get people coming in who aren't ALREADY on our site.

Acorn, things like adding your Twitter to your profile on forums will make a difference. People will tend to follow, and with a link in your profile, people will actually know you have a Twitter.

I do use Twitter for my board. As well as for the website version of it. Usually I'll make a mention of something going on or advertise a certain section of the board.

I used twitter before to advertise a site, and not thinking it would actually help. The next day the site owner actually put up an announcement thanking me because I advertised on twitter and deviant art.... and he actually got quite a few hits from it lol.

I have Statcounter, a web hit counter. It tells you where your hits come from. I haven't gotten a SINGLE hit from Twitter. But I admit it is kind of fun XD

I have to say, I've found Facebook much better for advertisement, I've got a ton of members that have found my site through FB.

We already do have a Facebook group. It gets us occasional hits, but what I probably need more of is backlinks. My google page rank is currently only 2.

No sooner did I sign up on Twitter and posted my first tweet with my link to my website, I got 9 guests looking at the board. Not sure if they were from Twitter, but I find that an interesting coincidence, lol.

ok Veespin I followed you, I'm going to follow anyone else who wants to join our little network.

Joel I just added you too!

Happily following you two. (Link in profile)

The more followers you get, the easier it is to get the word around. Be sure to mention the other person so they know that you aren't some bot etc. and that you actually are taking your time to mention them 🙂

I think Twitter is fantastic for any updates, announcements or down time notifications. If your forum goes down and they know of your Twitter account or are following you, then they will get the reason why the board is offline.
