Ubuntu is an open source operating system. It is built to do everything that Windows can do, only better (that's the goal anyway...). Personally I love Linux Mint, I find it extremely attractive visually.Palace said:What does this download thing do? What is it? I never heard about it before..

Fixed^^Traygon said:Could always install Ubuntu fully on your Hard Drive (deleting Vista) after saving all your files of course and then installVistaXP within Virtual Box.
For new users it is better for them to use wubi. Which will install ubuntu like its app for windows.NewKirk said:For sure,
You can run two operating systems on the same computer. If you partition disk space, you give up some space of one OS for another.
EX:
Vista is using all of your disk:

It can partition to run both Ubuntu on the left
