Ubuntu - 9.10

Atheros works perfectly fine with supplied Drivers in 9.04, what card do you have?

Are your graphics fully supported? Might just be a bug in the pre-release, have a wonder round Google.

What does this download thing do? What is it? I never heard about it before..

Ubuntu is an Operating System like Windows or Mac, it has one of the fastest boot up times and it is free because it is open source 🙂

Ubuntu is an open source operating system. It is built to do everything that Windows can do, only better (that's the goal anyway...). Personally I love Linux Mint, I find it extremely attractive visually.

Well I have windows vista I cant degrade it..Vista was fixed where you cant degrade...it at all with anything thats the sad part..🙁

Well you dont degrade, it is a completly diffrent Operating system, it can partition your disk.

Im sorry im good at like making forums/programming and such but im not good with the programming in "english" part no one has taught me. 😛 Can you explain it in english? (Sorry if I sound stupid..)

For sure,

You can run two operating systems on the same computer. If you partition disk space, you give up some space of one OS for another.
EX:
Vista is using all of your disk:
----------------------------|
It can partition to run both Ubuntu on the left
-------------|--------------

Ok, no it doesnt.

This isnt a download to improve your computer, it is something like technichally it is something like vista, it boots up and everything. It would be your computer. It is a smaller operating system than Vista so I do think it may make your computer faster though

Could always install Ubuntu fully on your Hard Drive (deleting Vista) after saving all your files of course and then install Vista within Virtual Box.

For new users it is better for them to use wubi. Which will install ubuntu like its app for windows.

I did this for a few people and they found it a great way to use Linux. I used linux mint instead of Ubuntu though.

I'm installing it on my laptop when my brother give it back, but then again I need to wait for it to come in the mail
