Wrong. The first law relating to marijuana in the US forced farmers to grow more of it. Things like marijuana, opium, etc were all legal until the 20's-30's, only reason marijuana is illegal is you need tax stamps for it that aren't given to anyone, so you actually can also be convicted for 'tax evasion' for getting caught with weed. Tobacco wasn't originally considered bad for you when it first hit the market. It was considered the "cool" thing. So many people have been addicted to tobacco it's not something the government can just take away. It's just something they can tax the hell out of.
