Do you have a strategy for promoting and marketing your message forum?

A check list of things you do to promote traffic if you will?

I'd love to read what your forum marketing strategies are! 🙂

No!

I think I should expand on that 🙂

I've never cared for SEO or marketing because all of the forums I've ever owned have had a captive market for one reason or another. I've had a number of totally unique niches e.g. a forum dedicated to a particular guitar made in the early 80's. The forum is hidden, by invitation only and yet we get thousands of referrals a year.

The customer service forums I run are officially authorized by my clients so there's no competition and no need for promotion.

Forum SEO has always fascinated me because the forums that appear to push it to the max are often the hardest to register on and the least friendly if you do finally manage to fight your way past unanswerable questions and the CAPTCHA. I've seen 'use the search' and 'start your own thread' in answer to a member's first post so many times on these types of forums I think they must be all using the same script on how to run a successful forum.

Of course SEO and marketing has a major place on the Internet but most modern forum software does a pretty good job of SEO and marketing has to coincide with ease of use.

Hope for the best! I don’t really have a strategy and to be honest, I try and make it fun so I don’t want to take things too seriously.

I've put some of my crafts up on Pinterest as well as on some Facebook Groups with a link to Crafter Craze. I even give the patterns away for free on my forum but still, it hasn't given me any registrations.

Content, quality content, and pushing that content out via automated features (we use Zapier) to groups that would benefit from it. Although this is mostly to boost my news and guide features and has little effect on our forum.

I am letting one of my forums grow organically. The forum is not receiving new users but it is getting really good traffic.
