Why are you sick of new promotion forums ?

Have trends changed in recent years or are most people board of promotion forums?

Well, you definitely don't see many promotion forums being advertised these days, if that's what you mean. If anything, I see a lot more RPG's, general information forums, etc, being advertised more heavily than promotion forums. So while I'm sure that's still a popular genera, I just don't think it's as popular as it once was.

I'm not sick of new promotion forums, I applaud anyone making a forum of any niche, really.

However, I won't join most new promotion forums simply because they are not being unique or original. They use the same concept of the major promotion forums, such as this forum, ForumPromotion.net.

If you really want to catch my and others attention, do something that no one else is doing with their promotion forum. Something innovative but awesome for a website/blog/forum owners to want to join up for. 🙂

The vast majority are replicas of existing promotion forums. I understand you have to start somewhere, but most have the same exact services and nothing new to bring to the table. A place to simply post my site is not very appealing. It's unlikely I will receive much traffic from posting my site on an inactive, new promotion forum. That is where the services come in. It seems most are composed of posting packages, reviews, and marketplaces, which are often driven by forum cash/points that hold no true value or worth. Something new has to be brought to the table in order for me to consider a "new" promotion forum.

Unfortunately, numbers mean a great deal, and if you're not Forum Promotion or The Admin Zone, then you'll have a really hard time standing out.

If you want to try to stand out, I would suggest inventing a unique mascot that relates to your forum's genre, producing bumper stickers and shirts, and so on. All that stuff about SEO is usually pointless. People will only join when they decide to, no matter how many times your pages are shoved in their faces.

I don't actually mind new Promotion forums but the problem is that everyone seems to be doing it wrong. They see that one promotion forum offers xxx features and then they create an exact duplicate of it with a different name. That is just unless because they need to offer something unique. Otherwise, why would people leave the bigger forum and come to yours? If you want to stay in the market, you need to be competitive and have a good unique selling point.

Think about this: If I create a duplicate of the iPhone 6 and call it the Zphone 6 with exactly the same features and price, why would people buy from me instead of the iPhone 6 which has built its brand. The answer is there is no reason to. The same theory reflects the issue with new Promotion Forums. I have seen some (although not many) promotion forums that actually offer something different but unfortunately, it seems like that they give up too easy when things are going downhill.

Exactly and it's the same with every forum. It's just finding that innovate idea that sets you apart from others, once you find that idea...you're set.

Or...you can build a forum and stick with it, battle the competitors obviously not something established as FP, but new start ups with a decent size community, they'll soon make their way to the forum which has the most dedicated admin that actually plans to take it far without being money hungry. I've seen a few forums that have the same idea as another popular one and with time it's started to blossom. Dedication is key.

Zphone sounds pretty good btw

I think new communities are great, especially forums that don't have all members from FP. However, copies aren't acceptable (Example: ForumPromotion and ForumPromocean)

Honestly, I don't get it. I somehow feel like it's like MickeyDs advertising at BurgerKing XD.

When we were running an anime forum with a #1 google ranking for the search term "anime forums" we certainly did NOT allow other anime forums to come and advertise on our board. We did consider maybe putting up paid affiliates to help pay hosting. We did however allow people to put a link to a blog or something in their sig, so long as it wasn't invasive and so long as it wasn't a rival site/link to illegal content. This is a promotion site, so people are going to promote of course, so it's different. But... I find the fact that promotion forums advertise here kinda weird. Nothing against them, but really should be trying to get off the ground without jumping on the competitor's territory. Just my 2 cents.

I would feel terrible about going to another anime or game site and sticking a large intrusive logo in my sig to advertise my site of the same niche.

Personally, I wouldn't say I'm sick of new promotions forums. In fact, I encourage them especially when it appears that the owner has gone out of their way to make their place different from the rest whether it's the look and/or services they offer. I appreciate their willingness to create a community dedicated to supporting other website and forum administrators. I just wish they wouldn't shut down so fast and so often.

That right there is the main problem with so many forums, and why I don't bother joining them. One day, they're up and full of activity. The next day, it's just the owner and three other regulars still around. They eventually lose interest, close the forums, and then proceed to start a new one.

I don't understand the mentality behind discarding everything you've worked so hard for. You either get into forums because you love putting your heart and soul into them or you just care about running a popular Web site to make back some Google dollars.

If they stick with it great, but when owners lose interest in it quickly, it's disappointing. Forums are for the long term!

I would say the biggest factor in so many forums falling at the first hurdle is due in large part to people's habits like using social media networks like Facebook, when I was posting on forums 5/7 years ago they did seem to be a lot busier and had a more loyal member base , but as I mentioned, habits and times are changing.

There will always be forums but probably just not as popular as before.

Tell everyone why you are sick of new promotion forums and make sure you mention everything !

I personally am and It annoys me more when ;
•They use free forum hosts
•Have a free domain such as .tk or .co.cc
•Have copied another forum
•Copy the Category and Forum names from Forum Promotion then deny it
•The admin does not even promote well
•No staff but the owner
•No forum logo or banner

Hi Dylan, why does it bother you when someone uses a free forum host? Loads of people do ,why pay when you can get for free? Lol, though I will probably buy another domain in the future but I never even knew one can get a free domain ?

As in promoting well, that's surely the reason why most post on here?

I've never copied anyone, I've never saw anything that appeals to me enough to copy, lol... But you definitely have a point in that some forums do copy others..sometimes even word for word, game for game ..unless it's a coincidence , lol

Of course there are many forums with only the owner , especially in the early days, but we can't force people to post, ye ken!

I've no forum logo yet as there is an issue with serv.img at forumotion the now so although I can post pics on categories , it won't allow me to upload a a forum logo!

Regards ,JD

I hate to say this, but you're right. Places like Promocean have a thing for copying FP. All the way down to the rules. And these people wonder why their site isn't doing so well? I think that might be why wouldn't you?
