Windows 10

I personally cannot wait for windows 10 to come out. It looks more streamlined than Windows 7/8, and since it's optimized to work like Windows 7/8 I don't see a downside. 😀

However I won't be upgrading right when they release it, gosh I can only imagine the bugs that will be out. That and some of the software I have would need to be updated to Windows 10 so until that happens I won't be upgrading right away. 😛

I am however interested in their new browser....Let's see if they can beat out Google Chrome and Firefox. 😛

Joking aside, I don't really think anyone knows why Windows 10 isn't Windows 9; and Windows, to my knowledge, hasn't released any information on why they skipped it.

Apparently they changed the start up menu, there's more security, it runs quicker, it has cortana, Microsoft edge the new browser, built in apps. Or atleast that is what the notification thing on my laptop says 😛 I am supposed to get Windows 10 free so I am excited. 😛

I have looked why there wasn't a Windows 9 it was because it had the same coding as Windows 95 and Windows 98 so they skipped to Windows 10 to save confusion.

I'm really excited, I think there's less than two weeks left, right? I'm going to use this as an opportunity to upgrade to 64 bit and then treat myself to a bit more RAM. 😛

I've been running the Insider Preview for a while now. Microsoft recently pushed what they're calling the "final version" to computers running a Preview version about a week ago. Everything is working absolutely fine for me, with the exclusion of my audio drivers which make my microphone sound like garbage.

Other than that, speed is amazing, especially since I'm on an SSD. I would highly recommend the upgrade to anyone looking to get out of Windows 8.

I'm also excited to try this new Windows especially since it's free. Comments here tend to be positive as well. It looks great from the preview, but what doesn't look great in advertisement, lol.

Microsoft means it's the last full release of Windows. Not the last release altogether. They're moving from shipping new boxes and service packs every couple of years to finishing with Windows 10 and rolling out major updates along the way. Think of it like Office 365 for Microsoft's office suite. It's more of a service now. Hence why they're offering it as a free upgrade to those on 7/8, to try and migrate as many to the new Windows service as possible.

I see, thanks a lot for the explanation! It does sound beneficial for them that way, given how they used to have complaints with 8 if I remember correctly.

I cannot upgrade, my online school has software that I am 100% sure will not run with Windows 10. I heard it's optimized to run with Windows 7 softwares but I'm not taking a chance until my school says it's alright to go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10. I really want to though, after a few months have passed and bugs are fixed. 😛 Should always wait after the majority of people complain to Windows with bugs and "omg I don't like this" so you can get a feel of what it's going to be like. :lol:

I'm too cheap to bother. That and I don't use my windows lap top much. I mostly converted to mac. I just use the other one for certain things.
