What are the worst features and things about the IPS software?

Why do you dislike it so much?

What would you do to improve it?

They have a really good community software with great features. But the problem is that they don't really care about smaller communities or hobbyist forums.

The forum software is good and built with community in mind, the only thing that may let them down slightly is the renewal price which has now been increased but in the same hat the money they receive hopefully will see a return with more great features and improvements in the software as time goes on.

the costs of running IPB are the shocking part of them all. It is not cheap

It is if you choose to stick with whatever version of software you're currently using and don't upgrade when new versions come out.

I find IPS just perfect but only thing I'd change is the yearly lockin.

Oddly enough I find the worst feature is them not offering a simple website CMS using their IPS.Pages app via their cloud platform.

Otherwise, the way the store handles premium memberships is far from ideal. I heard it is getting fixed soon, but it has been not great for years.

To get extra you ahve to pay for it, IPB are like that

Probably the pricing tbh. I just renewed my IPS license for a private sideprojectt and it cost me $90.

The user interface went downhill since version 4. The redesign looks bulky and clumsy. And the prices increased too much. IPB 3 was an awesome software.

I love Invision. My only complaint would be that the Pages app isn't very intuitive. I would live it if it has an easy learning curve comparable to Wordpress.

In general I think the software is a little ahead of the game and reasonably competitive on pricing. I don't really see it as a direct competitor of Xenforo or Woltlab, it sits somewhere between the aforementioned products and the likes of Khoros. To put it another way, it's moved on from the hobbyist market into something more corporate.

That's the positive side of things. On the other side of the coin the general management style is a prime example of how not to make friends and influence people. The relationship the management have with their customers is a comedy of errors and at least two members of the management team would do well to simply not engage with their customers at all, ever.

New complaint, the amount of new accounts being ban via IPS spam defence is CRAZY

Getting rid of the marketplace was so stupid.
Would have to agree as now it makes finding plugins, applications, and themes harder to find. I know that there is Invisioneer but, it was a solution to a problem that shouldn't have to have been made.

Perhaps, instead of an actual storefront the marketplace could have been a linking hub.

I do not even look for addons anymore, I have no idea what's out there

I agree, and the fact that the IC5 release is on the horizon. I don't know how many add-ons will be converted to work with the new software. Right now, I only have one application running. Normally I would have a few more but, I've gone in the direction of a less is more attitude. IC has enough built-in functionality that many old add-ons aren't needed these days.

Same, It's ridiculous. I honestly don't know why they got shut of the Marketplace. when you do find a developer you have to register on their forum, It's so silly.

Probably the renew pricing is a bit expensive, and that you lose your license if you don’t renew for Two years. But well, the software is awesome, with an active developers and the team.

I've been considering converting from XF to IPS, since the demo I have, I can basically do 95% of what I want without any plugins. The only thing I really feel is missing is Passkeys support.
