Do you think it is fine for people still using XP?

I don't see anything wrong with using XP. My mom uses XP because her work requires her to for security reasons.

Windows XP is still a good buddy of mine. I'll use it on older computers even after it's not supported.

If you want a UI full of eye candy which has better performance and security than Windows Vista, then go for Windows 7.

If you prefer reliability (by that, I mean the programs available for it, not the OS, although XP and 7 are both very reliable) and speed, then go for XP.

The theme in XP isn't that bad. Take a look at Windows 2000. Now that is atrocious!
You can also install custom themes for XP and 2000 if that bugs you 😉.

For now and the future, I will use XP, I have a couple of reasons for doing so, the main one being, that I find it to be the most reliable OS I have ever used (Remembering Windows 95 and windows millennium).

Also, as far as security, in my opinion (I know some of you will disagree and the last thing I want is to argue with anyone) XP is currently safer than the new stuff, being that anyone (Hackers) who are interested in that sort of stuff are going to now target the new stuff, hackers are always looking for something new to hack, so Windows 7 will be quite attractive to them, where as XP will now take a back seat, this is good, I hardly see any XP viruses anymore, but that could be due to how careful I am, having dealt with more of them that I care to remember.

I remember having a similar conversation about Norton Anti-Virus, I currently use Norton Anti-Virus 2003, but you think I'm stupid right? My main reason is, that as they developed, they took some protection away, as they believe that kind of virus is outdated, but your never to smart to get done over by a 9 year old virus, so in some ways the Norton Anti-Virus 2011 and so on, are vulnerable to the old hacks, So like I was saying I use the 2003 version with the newest updates, giving me a much wider range of protection.

I feel like I went off topic, the point I'm trying to make is that currently XP isn't as vulnerable as Windows 7.

That being said, it will not always be the case, and it will be a sad day when I do decide to switch, I am very attached to windows XP, I have been using it for so many years, I would feel terrible changing and having to get used to some new system.

haha, I may have gone into a bit of a rant there, but ah well, like I said, some of you may disagree with my way of thinking, but it has worked for me very well, and as long as it does, I will stay loyal to XP 🙂

I used ages giving up XP but that's only because I got so used to it. When XP came out it was crap, and it was out for years before I went over from 2000.
I don't really see why anyone would keep using XP but people are allowed to if they want to 😉

Windows 2000 was bad, how it can even be compared with XP I have no idea, but like I said I'll stick up for XP every time 😛

yeah, 2000 sucked and always crashed and I always got "program not responding".

Windows vista reminded me of 2000 every time when it started up, it took a a few seounds for it to respond.

Windows 7 they have done a great improvement, i have windows 7 🙂

yep indeed, security's enhanced and improved and heightened.

 Naiwen! You always got Program not responding. XD

I'd definitely recommending moving on from Xp to at the very least Vista.

I got windows 7 now... XDD even better.

Am I the only one here who likes Windows 2000? Are you guys sure that you're not getting it mixed up with Windows ME? Windows ME was a crap sequel to Windows 98. Windows 2000 was Windows NT 5.0 (Windows XP was Windows NT 5.1). Thus, it used the same core as Windows XP. I think Windows 2000 is great. xD

No Snobo, those two sucked and were crap Oss. I mean, they always crashed on me.

I'm hurt. 🙁

xD Windows 2000 still can run a surprisingly large amount of programs, though. I used it on an older machine recently, and it can run the latest version of Firefox among many other things.

you're kiddding me right? XDD Then again, how come they crashed on me so often? ANd I got "unresponsive programs" so often when I was using them then?

Maybe the RAM was being held into the sockets with duct tape.

My grandma brought her computer to me to fix, and it had cobwebs inside it. O_O
