phpBB3 information

I like PHPBB3 better, but I like the PHPBB2 ACP better.

I quite like the phpBB3 acp as it is all under tabs and it look cleaner as everything can go on 1 page and you don't need to scroll down all the time to see all the options.

I prefer the V2 permissions though -lol-

It dose help not scrolling since the are tons more things in acp and it would get too long. As with lots of v2 mods make it too long as well in v2.

Yeah the phpBB3 ACP is nice, but takes a little getting used to from looking at the phpBB2 ACP all the time.

That is true but they are supposed to be like that so that people dont complain that the software is insecure like everyone said with phpBB2.

I dont really like the phpbb3 permissions, but its ok if your upgrading from a phpbb2 forum as it mosty copies the permissions, and the good thing is that you can copy permissions from another forum which you couldn't do in phpbb2.

phpbb3 is alot better than phpbb2 the only think i liked in phpbb2 compared with phpbb3 was the permission system

The permissions may be a pain but they are serving a good purpose. Its to enhance phpBB3's Security. As phpBB2's Security was/is crap.

i am currently using phpbb3 i think its great, an all round good forum plus adding mods to personalise it is very easy i would recommend it.

I love phpBB3. Adding mods is a learning process though.

Once you have installed a few it gets easier... If you start with smaller ones then go on to bigger mods and ones that involve database edits it would be better as if you start with a harder mod first you probably won't install it right and give up.

Phpbb3 seems to be alright

but some of my friends who own forums, have had problems with it

so yeh i will have to advise them to back everything up

You get problems with all softwares so it is nothing unique to phpBB3 -🙂-

If you used vb for example you would come across some problems over time aswell.

I hate vB. In my opionion its ACP is not user-friendly and everthing else is just crap.

vB is actually very good. Most of the stuff you need to add on to phpBB3 is already built into vB, the only reason i wouldn't go for it is that its really expensive.

That's why I've avoided vB. phpBB3 does what I need it to. Especially at this point I cannot see spending that much on forum software.

And phpbb3 is more safe than VB for me, becoz, phpbb3 is open source... ~biggrin~
