PHPBB3 is up there with paid forum software I believe. Its unique and not many people use it.

Nothing is "unique" on the internet. People can do things in their own way, but there's never been something that hasn't been copied in one way or another.
Nah, phpbb3 is pretty unique.

I'm running 3.0.6 right now. 🙂

Pretty nice, the Quick reply is pretty simple, though.

Better to have it simple than to have it totally complicated. That's my opinion.

We (Webverts) are still going to use Prime Quick Reply. It's more advanced. 😀

i am a admin on a mybb forum, a phpbb forum and had been one on a vb forum 😀

in my opinion every forum software has it's own ups and downs

however phpbb3 is more complicated and therefore provides vast area of customization and making your forum stand out unique and high among the horde of similar niche based forums 🙂

What's the difference between the prime quick reply and the other ones?

Thanks for this post! Really helped me out, just a quick question. Do you still have to install mods manually? I used the old Phpbb2, I was fine with that but it's been years.
Just wondering.
Thanks

No you don't have to, there's automod, but it's really poor and stuffs up the mod most of the time.

Although most mods after installation with Automod require manual work because either automod messed up somewhere, or it has other manual instructions.

Yes that's why I said it stuffs up most of the time, however he asked if you have to do it manually and even though Automod sucks, the answer is no and not yes 😛

*She 😉
Lol okay cool, was just making sure, wanted to know before I chose what forum system to go with 🙂.
Thanks Guys!

I don't have to worry about any of this as I use FreeForums and they do it all for me but this is very interesting and really helpful for the forum owners that use advanced hosting.

I'm now using phpBB 3.0.7-dev, its pretty much identical to 3.0.6 at the moment though.

It is mostly all fixes from the phpBB 3.0.6 version. (until now)

Yeah, I was looking through the change log, however there are one or two features they are still planning on adding.
